Staying Fit and Well in Midlife and Beyond….

I hope you are well and enjoying the wonderful weather we have been having, at least we have finally had some rain which was much needed!

Staying fit and well through midlife and beyond is my main focus for myself and the women that I work closely with.

As you age it is important to take a look at the way you are living your life and where necessary make adjustments.

Things that you did in your earlier years may no longer serve you and taking a slightly different approach may be all that you need to do.

DIET

You may need to change the amount of food you eat, the quality of the food you eat, the time of day you eat as your body may not need as many calories as it used to especially if you are less active than you used to be. You may need to eat dinner at an earlier time to allow for digestion to occur. When you’re younger you take for granted that you can eat what you like when you like and not concern yourself with not sleeping well or feeling bloated or gaining weight but as you age these things may occur if nothing changes.

SLEEP

This is a biggie. as good quality sleep is so important especially as we age. You may have to adjust your bedroom temperature, your bedtime routine, your bedtime attire as these can easily be disrupted. Another thing we take for granted when young is sleeping through anything, sleeping anywhere, with noise, heat, light etc but your body becomes more sensitive to these things with age so putting together a solid bedtime routine and sticking to it may be key for a better nights sleep!

EXERCISE

Exercise is key at all ages but you may have to change what type of exercise you do as you age, as running marathons, doing too much HIIT training may not be the best choices anymore. You definitely need to incorporate more mindful exercise such as yoga or pilates as these will really help you stay calm, focused, flexible and relaxed, all important in midlife and beyond!

I hope this helps! Please message me if I can be of assistance!

Be healthy. Be happy. Be fit

Bye for now
