I’d like to to talk about bone health and how important it is as women to look after our bones.
I have recently been diagnosed with osteoporosis which came as a huge shock because I do all of the right things and have done so for many years but in my case it is probably genetic which is out of my control.
However the fact that I am strong and look after myself can only be a good thing and having sufficient muscle tone will help to protect my bones. Unfortunately as I am on Letrazole, a hormone blocking drug this will work against me but I will be receiving an annual infusion to help strengthen my bones.
Understanding Osteoporosis: What Every Woman Should Know
As we grow older, our bones naturally lose density—but for many women, this leads to a condition called osteoporosis. It means “porous bone,” and it makes our bones weaker and more likely to break, especially in the hips, spine, and wrists.
Why does this matter? Because osteoporosis can quietly progress without symptoms until a sudden fall or simple movement results in a fracture. These fractures can affect our independence, mobility, and overall health.
The good news? Osteoporosis is manageable—and often preventable. With the right nutrition, weight-bearing exercise, bone density testing, and medical guidance, we can take strong steps to protect our bones and our future.
Let’s keep the conversation going about bone health. Because strong bones mean a stronger, more vibrant life ahead.
I’ll be posting more posts about ways to protect our bone health going forward and digging deeper into nutrition, supplements, exercise etc…..
Much love
