WATER AND DEHYDRATION!

The body consists of between 55 and 75% water. Water is found in the muscles, brain, blood and bones and we cannot live without it!

1) It transports nutrients and oxygen into the cells of the body.

2) It protects our vital organs.

3) It helps with the absorption of of nutrients.

4) It regulates body temperature.

5) It protects and moisturizes joints.

6) It detoxifies!

5 Symptoms of dehydration

1) Dark urine – urine should be a pale yellow colour. If it is dark yellow or strong smelling this could be an indication that you need to drink more water.

2) Thirst – The most obvious sign that you are already dehydrated. Drink water before you get to that stage.

3) Hunger – Most people mistake thirst for hunger so make sure you have a drink of water before you eat as you may just be needing hydration.

4) Dry skin – the largest organ of the body requires lots of water to keep moisturized.

5) Fatigue – water is a source of energy so fatigue may be a sign that you need to drink more.

Aim for 8 glasses of water a day to keep hydrated.
