Are you a Self-Saboteur?!
How many of us (me included) can eat healthy food and exercise regularly during the week only to wreck everything in those 2 days at the weekend?!!
Then wake up on Monday morning feeling annoyed with yourself and start all over again!!
A lot of it is down to mindset and habits!
We feel that we have earned our weekend treats as we have been good all week and it’s the weekend after all and isn’t that what they are for, spoiling ourselves?!!
We have to look at the week as consisting of 7 days and not 5 days and a weekend (WOOHOO!)
We have to change our mindset and get out of our bad habits!
I agree that you should be able to relax your regime a bit every now and then but not overdo it!
If you are consistent with eating well and training regularly then you can allow yourself a small treat without ruining all of your hard work!
I try to think of it like this………..If I eat well and train daily then I can have those 2 large glasses of wine at the weekend or that takeaway curry on Saturday night or that pudding after my dinner on Sunday or whatever your treat may be but it all falls apart when you treat yourself to all of the above (and more) all weekend and every weekend!
Think how pleased you would be with yourself if you had a healthy weekend and woke up on Monday morning feeling good about yourself!? That would set you up for another good week and then when you get to the next weekend you will be more inclined not to sabotage.
When you start seeing results then you will gradually change to a more positive mindset and your habits will start to change! If you keep self sabotaging then the results will never come and you will become despondent and may give up completely thinking ‘what’s the point’?
So try to make small changes that aren’t too difficult to stick to and make sure you do give yourself a treat as life is too short to completely go without the things we love!
Do you remember that Kate Moss saying ‘nothing tastes as good as being skinny feels’, well I’d like to change that to ‘nothing tastes as good as being healthy feels!’ I don’t agree with being skinny at all but do agree with being fit, healthy and strong!
