My top tips to staying healthy on holiday……

EATING/DRINKING

1) Be mindful of what you are eating and drinking, be aware of portion size and alcohol quantity. Share a portion of chips with your partner, drink a glass of water in between each alcoholic drink, choose lower calorie options and avoid cocktails most of the time as they are generally very calorific!

2) Be careful with how many nibbles you consume as these add up and if you have crisps at lunchtime with a beer then crisps with wine before dinner, this will pack the weight on!

3) At some meals swap chips for salad, swap crisps for fruit and stay well hydrated as this will also help you stay fuller for longer and you will get less cravings. Also if you are drinking alcohol every day then this will dehydrate you so you have to drink more than usual especially if it’s hot!

4) Allow yourself some indulgences but don’t indulge all day every day just because you’re on holiday!

EXERCISE!

1) Plan your days so that you are not just sunbathing, eating and drinking all day, every day!

2) Walk everywhere, get your steps in even if you are not doing actual exercise as this is the best way to burn those extra calories you are consuming!

3) Get a workout in the bag first thing while it’s not too hot. You only need to do a 10/15/20 minute workout every day or every other day and walk in between those workouts!

4) Use the swimming pool to exercise in either by swimming lengths or doing exercises in the pool like jumping jacks, high knees etc and sit ups on the edge of the pool!

5) Have half a day chilling and then the other half visiting another town, market, going for a long walk, cycling, playing tennis, just be active!

6) Most importantly if you are a member of my VIP Fitness HUB you can take me with you and still take part in the workouts, chat, support which will really help with keeping you on track if you have me in your back pocket!

7) Pack your Glute Activation Band or resistance band as they are great for toning exercises especially if there is not a gym available.

Most importantly think about how you will feel if you come home from your holiday having put on lots of weight, talk about post holiday blues! Come back feeling toned, fit and tanned to boot!
