So, the festive season is upon us and we will all be finishing work for a few days and breaking with our normal routine!
I love this time of year and all that comes with it except for the overspending!
I love spending time with my family and good friends, eating delicious rich food that I wouldn’t normally eat, drinking more of the good stuff and taking time out from my hectic life and chilling with long dog walks and cheesy Christmas movies!
However I do not want to go into the new year fatter, feeling jaded and unfit so I will continue exercising, eating well most of the time and getting plenty of sleep!
Here are my top tips to help you through this festive period:-
- Portion control is important – eat the good stuff but don’t overdo it!
- Chew your meals well and slow down your eating.
- If drinking alcohol then drink a glass of water between each alcoholic drink.
- Choose light coloured spirits or add soda to your wine to dilute it and reduce the calories.
- Exercise daily if only for 10 minutes to improve mood and kickstart your metabolism.
- Choose the moments you overindulge – don’t just eat for the sake of it.
- If you know you are going to overindulge in the evening then reduce your calories through the day.
- Get plenty of sleep as this will enable you to make better food and drink choices through the day.
Hope this helps and I wish you a wonderful Christmas and a fabulous new year, see you on the other side!
