Intermittent Fasting!

Have you tried or heard of Intermittent Fasting?!

It is an eating pattern that can help with weight loss.

It involves leaving a period of between 16 and 24 hours between the time you have your last meal to when you eat again typically done overnight.

Shorter fasting periods of about 16/17/18 hours can be done on a daily basis whereas a longer fasting period of 24 hours can be done a couple of times a week.

Our bodies are quite capable of going without food for a large amount of time as our ancestors had to find food and kill it, not just visit the supermarket, stock up and freeze it!

The idea is that if you fast for a longer period of time, giving yourself less time to eat in the day, then you will be in a calorie deficit and that will automatically make you lose weight.

I recommend trying the 16/8 rule which involves fasting for 16/17 hours overnight and then eating in an 8 hour window.

You must make sure that in that 8 hour window you do not overindulge and eat everything and anything just because it’s in that 8 hour window!

Try to eat well and make good choices adding plenty of protein and vegetables to your meals avoiding sugary foods as much as possible.

  • Reducing inflammation in the body
  • Keeping the brain healthy
  • Boosting metabolism
